A youn boy dances as the troupe parade through the streets of Comanesti, Romaia. 30th December 2017. During the winter months in the Moldova region of Romania, troupes of dancing bears, men and women of all ages wearing real bear skins, visit homes and businesses in a tradition that is said to ward off bad spirits and bring good luck. The Bear Dance has survived largely due to the efforts of local governments who organize parades and competitions to incentivize the organization of bear troupes.
